I still am yearning for this feature. I imagine the GUI would be a new "RPC" tab which has large scrollable area at the top, and an input area on the bottom, a few lines tall. The output of commands sent to the input area would be shown in the scrollable text area above.

We can probably take this from BTC's QT wallet. They have this RPC console: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/src/qt/rpcconsole.cpp

I have not used their GUI wallet in years, but I'm pretty sure Pirate uses this in their wallet and it opens in a new window.
