When SDL first starts up, it can sync for a while, and it's supported to click the X and let it do that in the background.
But when you do this, the GUI is not initialized. The "info" tab has "Loading...." for every item, and the Receiving addresses have not been generated, etc...

Yes, you can still close the loading popup on startup. I only tested on an existing wallet. Everything shows as you described originally until sync finishes. It's a bigger issue on brand new wallets if release has old checkpoints. I'm not sure if it's worse to prevent closing the popup or allowing it to be closed.

@duke this is user-facing and is confusing for new users. Seems like a good thing to prioritize
